Walk from Cairns to Cooktown on the bitumen road – raising money for charity and fulfilling a 25 year old pub promise.

25 years after a rash statement in the Freshie pub about the road to Cooktown never being bitumen and “when it is I will walk it” Ron Veivers of Freshwater is keeping his promise and walking to Cooktown, arriving there on the Cooktown Discovery Festival weekend of 6th,7th,8th June 2009.

With plans in place to turn it into a Charity Fun Walk, Ron plans to complete the 300 plus klm walk within two weeks raising much needed funds for the following charities which support people across the Far North Queensland Region.

The organizers of the walk are looking for people who would like to join Ron in the walk, be part of the support crew, become a sponsor, make a donation of any sort or just help out.
